The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) says it will soon respond to the allegations levelled against its Group Managing Director, Maikanti Baru, by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Ibe Kachikwu.
According to reports, a senior NNPC official disclosed that the NNPC has got the green light to go ahead and reply the minister.
Kachikwu, in his letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, accused the NNPC boss of insubordination and award of $25bn contracts without due process, among others.
But the oil company has argued that it relied on the NNPC Act and the Bureau of Public Procurement Act in the operations of the corporation.
The source told Daily Trust on Sunday that, “This means that the NNPC tenders board guides procurement matters that if need be are cleared with the Petroleum Minister who is also the President of the Federal Republic.”
