Sheriff Wanted Me Out Of Senate – Sen. Bassey Akpan

Senator Bassey Albert Akpan (PDP-Akwa Ibom North East) has alleged that sacked National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ali Modu Sheriff, plotted to remove him from the Senate.

Speaking to newsmen, he accused Sheriff of collaborating with the former legal adviser of the PDP, Dave Iorhemba.

Akpan said: ”On 14th of September, 2017 while I was in Akwa Ibom campaigning for the local government Congress, the former National legal adviser to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) connived with the State legal party adviser to withdraw the letter of appeal from the court without my consent.”

”Surprisingly, on 15th September, 2017, I came back to Abuja only to be notified that the date of the case hearing was changed from 15th of October to 7th of October, and I became surprised.”

He said Sheriff came to court with five lawyers in the last court hearing purposely to oust him using every way possible.

Akpan praised Senate Minority leader, Godswill Akpabio, and Senate President, Bukola Saraki, for their intervention.

He explained that his contender, Hon. Etim Bassey, got into the heart of Sheriff, thereby, making the former Chairman to be desperate about his Senatorial district.
